Pulau Perhentian accommodations

There are only a few simple bungalow resorts on both islands, which are fully booked quite early during the season and on holidays and weekends. The quality of the bungalows and chalets is not very high, but most of them are clean and ok. Some have aircondition and wifi is available in public areas. Although the internet connection speed is slow and if more then three people are online, there are difficulties to get access.

The best and most modern resorts are Bubu Resorts and Villas on Long Beach, Ombak Dive Resort at Coral Bay and Alunan Boutique Resort, all on Perhentian kecil. All other resorts are simple and small with less modern comfort. But most are good enough to spend some nice and relaxing days on the beach. But there are also some resorts, that cannot fullfil the needs for a nice and clean accommodation.

Here my list of recommandable resorts, some can be booked online (links to agoda*):

Perhentian besar (check map below for location)

• Abdul´s Chalets: very good and clean small bungalows with aircon directly on the small white sandy beach. Good restaurant with cheap prices. No alcohol.
• Beachbox: modern style resort on the beach
• Tuna Bay Bungalow: good and clean bungalows at the busy beach with shadow giving palmtrees and trees. Much boat traffic. Quite big restaurant.
• Coral View Resort: small but quite nice wooden bungalows in a narrow bay and at a beach with lots of broken corals and some big rocks. Not the best beach place.
• Perhentian Island Resort: higher prices and bigger resort with modern bungalows in a quite big garden at the Mango Bay beach. The big roof restaurant lays not directly a the beach. The beach could be cleaner. Over all good but seems to be a little too expensive.
• The Barat Perhentian Resort: simple rooms and bungalows with sufficient comfort and cleanliness at the east coast beach of besar.
• Flora Bay Resort: good and solid wooden bungalows in a nice and clean garden with a big restaurant nearby the beach.
• Fauna Bay Resort: simple small and clean wooden bungalows in the middle of the bay beach. Nice and roofless restaurant on the beach. Muslim owners, so no alcohol.
• Samudra Resort: quite nice wooden bungalows with a small not so nice restaurant.
• Arwana Resort: medium quality resort with good bungalows at the end of the beach.

Perhentian kecil

• Mimpi: new, modern style resort at the northern tip of the beach; with pool
• Bubu Beach Resort: very good and very clean rooms in a hotel building. Nice restaurant at the long beach. Quite expensive for Perhentian.
• Bubu Villa: very nice wooden villas on Long Beach, nice beach restaurant and beach area. Very good beach place. Spa.
• The Aman Resort: modern and comfortable rooms in a modern hotel building at the southern end of Long Beach
• Rock Garden Resort: at the southern end of Long Beach are several stone bungalows overlooking the bay and beach from higher location. Seems to have need for renovation. Panorama restaurant.
• Ombak Dive Resort: modern hotel building with clean but dark rooms. Some rooms without aircon. Very nice and good restaurant, modern dive center, but very small beach area without beach beds. Over all good but a bit expensive. Best resort in Coral Bay.
• Coral Bay Bungalow: very simple and small bungalows under palm trees directly on the beach.
• Villamas: resort with nice and clean bungalows at a small beach
• Alunan Boutique Resort: former Impiani Resort lays at a small sandy bay on the southern coast of P. kecil. It´s a hideaway place with nice wooden and concret bungalows built at the foot of the jungle. Good restaurant.

Very cheap, but not on the beach is Ewan´s Place behind Ombak Dive Resort at the walking trek between Coral Bay and Long Beach. There is a cheap and big restaurant too.
