Maenam beach is the longest beach on Ko Samui. Its three kilometer long strip has golden soft sand and is lined by hundreds of Coconut palms. The water is getting deep soon, so it is excellent for swimming. Running and jogging is not good due to the softness of the sand. If wind conditions are well, kite surfing is possible too at Maenam beach. It is still a quiet place with not too many resorts and watersports, and one has the choice among various kinds of accommodation, from five star golfand spa hotel to simple and unexpensive bungalows directly at the beach and under coconut trees.
The western half of the beach is the better part, especially, if you are looking for coconut palms and simple bungalows. The eastern half had suffered a bit from loosing beachsand due to waves and currents. There are more modern style villas and beach hotels built here.
At the western end of Maenam beach the pier of Lomprayah catamaran is located. There are boats leaving for Koh Phangan and Koh Tao every day.
Maenam beach is a bit away from the main island road and the village of Maenam. Between the road and the beach are smaller guesthouses, simple restaurants, bars and shops. Nightlife is reduced to these choices, not comparable with Bophut or Chaweng.
Maenam beach is a place to hideaway and relax in stillness at a very beautiful beach.
