Ko Mak has two long beaches and some very small sandy bays in the north eastern part of the island. These bays belong to resorts and are not open to public access. The beaches on Ko Mak are natural and do not have umbrellas or beach beds, so that one must bring a towel and find a place on the sand.

Suan Yai

Suan yai in the northwest is the longest beach with the shallow water of the bay. Some palm trees and casuarina trees offer shady places. The view over to Ko Kham and Ko Chang is very nice. Koh Mak Resort and Seavanna Beach Resort are directly on this beach, while Cococape Resort is located at he end of the bay with no sandy beach access. At the other end of the beach lays Happy Days Resort under palm trees.

Ao Khao

Khao Beach in the southwest is devided into sections by small rocky capes. There are lots of Coconut palm trees along the beachside. The water is very shallow, but swimming is possible. At high tides the beach is narrow. Many nice and simple bungalow resorts are located at Khao beach. It is a silent destination for dangeling the soul and perfect relaxation. Resorts like Lazy Day or Ao Khao Beach Resort are excellent places to spend some days in stillness. Also Island Hut with its wooden huts from a time when Thailand was unknown to many people and the beautiful Palm Beach Resort are worth to visit.

Ao Tan

This narrow and dark sanded beach in the north is not realy a nice beach, but it is a hideaway, if you are looking for a place to get away from it all.

Ao Nid

Ao Nid is the wide bay in the southeast with the big pier. It has only some small strips of sandy beaches. But the views from Sea Breeze Resort or Plub Pla Retreat or Koh Mak Retreat are very nice and the bay is excellent for swimming and kajaking.
