Getting to Koh Chang
There are two options to get to Koh Chang: by bus/minibus from Bangkok Ekamai or Morchit bus terminal and from Pattaya or by plane (Bangkokair) from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi to Trat airport.
The tourist bus arrives from Ekamai at Laem Ngop pier during high season. The normal public bus ends in Trat bus terminal north of Trat town. Driving time is about five to six hours from Bangkok and four hours from Pattaya. Pickups and taxis connect the terminal with the piers, as well as the airport.
There are three piers on the mainland from which ferries and express boats leave to Koh Chang. The car ferries have a half hour frequency all day from 6.30 a.m. till 7 p.m. and cost about 50-60 Baht per person.
It is also possible to go to Koh Chang by own car or park it at the piers.

Overnight in Trat
People who want to transfer to Koh Mak or Koh Kood and arrive late in Trat, have to overnight in Trat, since all boats are leaving in the morning or around noon.

Weather and climate
The climate on Koh Chang is tropical with a rainy period from June till October and some afternoon showers around the year. The daytime temperature ranges between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius and the water temperature is around 28-29 degrees. High season and best traveling time is from November till May. A good time to travel is also May and October, when privces are low, weather is quite good and its rather empty.
